ABOUT SQUEAK
Squeaky Music is a project by producer and sound engineer Squeak, a Tokyo – New Orleans – Bogotá, and currently Oakland-based artist who collaborates with musicians and good friends from all over. Squeak started playing bass and composing songs for bands in New Orleans back in 1995, and later moved across the US from Brooklyn to the Bay Area to work in music studios. In 2010, Squeak made her big move to Colombia – in search of new sounds and musical connections. Liza Maytok is a singer/songwriter whose acoustic music is influenced by both the folk and jazz traditions. She has a voice for torch songs, lyrics with a message and a penetrating presence as a performer. As an activist and cultural worker, she shares her reflections about life, love and the revolution through her lyrics, missives, and an occasional poem.
